Treasures of Inspiration
By Sewfunquilts
Vacation update from Pacifica, CA.......
I'm staying out of the sun and not going to the beach today..(darn it)..so will share some of my recent thoughts & treasures I found outside. You know, if we all look and take the time to look....we do find treasures right where we are. Where are you finding your treasures today?
My son, Scott, definitely has a green thumb. His patio garden in Pacifica is definitely proof of that. Every bit of available space/corner/fence/table/shelving rack has plants & flowers.......simply gorgeous! He told me that coming home from work & puttering with his patio garden plants & flowers is one of his favorite things to do. Here's a few of his flowers I found inspiring.
I love how the plants & trees are recessed behind this gorgeous sunflower...it adds an interesting setting for the background of the picture ...yet doesn't take away from the focal of the sunflower. He has several of these tall smiling sun worshipers.... all started from seed.
The summertime days in Pacifica are usually cooler & sometimes foggy, so all of his flowers this year are "late bloomers". But I know they just waited for me to come here for my vacation, so I could drink my tea on the patio and admire their colors & scents.
It's amazing to me that all of his garden plants & flowers are planted in pots. He likes to re-arrange them and move them about......according to color, height, size...sure works well. This cluster tea rose is bursting with blooms and has lots of new buds. Since shades of pinks are one of my favorite colors, I thought of quilts and what wonderful inspiration Mother Nature provides for all of us. Now..if I could just capture the different shades in fabrics............sigh!
Such treasures I'm finding today!
I hope you find some treasures of your own today!

Sunflowers lift their smiling faces toward the sun and turn to follow it...isn't that amazing?

GO WINNER! Today's the Day!
By Sewfunquilts
With being on vacation in California at my son's, I wanted to announce the winner of my GO Giveaway in a special way. Here we are on my first day here...just had to GO to the beach. I got my shorts wet too!
Let's GO take a stroll and think about life........fills my soul.
Surf and sand.......nothing better for my kind of vacation.
Ok...ok...enough of me in the ocean. You want to know who won the GO, don't you?
We had to set the scene...Candles...crystal bowl with all the numbered entries. Life is just a bowl of cherries, (fun & to be enjoyed). On my mesh bag... "Any day spent sewing is a good day". There's my Christmas fabric circles cut with my GO for making yo-yo's and stored in my mesh "sewing day" bag.
My son drawing out the winning entry.... and............
It's number 65! Who is number 65?
The suspense is building..........
Oh! I'm being mean, teasing you like this.........fun for me!
Drum roll please.............ta da....ta da....ta da....
Congratulations to:
Maxwells who entered on 8/13/10 from Wilmington, DE and has a blog Thompson Family Quilts. Please email me your name & address so I can contact AccuQuilt to send you a Free GO cutter and 3 free dies of your choice.
Thanks everyone, it's been fun!

I Fell in Love Last Night
By Sewfunquilts
My heart is GOing pitter patter, my palms are all sweaty, my breathing is heavy, I'm dizzy, I can't sleep, I can't eat...(well, not really...'cause I can always eat..darn it.) All the sensations and symptoms are there...it must be LOVE! I fell in everlasting love with my GO cutter by AccuQuilt using the circle die last night.
Ok.. I picked out my fabrics, set up the GO cutter, got the GO circle die out...ready set GO!
Have you ever tried cutting perfect circles for a project? I've tried everything to cut circles; tracing around a saucer or plate with a pencil, using a compass & pencil, tracing around a template, using carbon paper, using tracing paper. You name it, I've tried it. I could never cut them out perfect...let alone 4 of them at a time.
I'm not GOing to give you a tutorial here, I'm just sharing my LOVE for this amazing machine! If you want to see a complete demonstration video for using the circle die with the GO cutter, you can watch the video on Accuquilt's website: http://accuquilt.com
Wow! That was fast...just crank the handle.. gosh, my palms are getting sweaty..(1st sign) Place the fabric again, crank the handle...lift off the mat. Wow! Four more! Oh, be quiet my pounding heart...pitter patter, pitter patter. (2nd sign) Do it all again and again...breathing heavy (3rd sign), more circles and more circles. I'm getting dizzy now. (4th sign). Oh My!
This is one AMAZING cutting machine! I cut over 240 five inch circles last night in a little over one hour!
Yes, I'm definitely in LOVE...............with my GO cutter. You GOtta get one of these.
If you'd like a chance to win a Free GO, click on the picture at the top of this page and enter my giveaway. AccuQuilt has generously provided me with a free GO cutter for one lucky person! Plus you'll get to choose 3 dies of your choice. May I suggest the circle die? Tell your friends, tell your family, GO tell everyone about this contest. Actually, if you want to GO shout it from the roof, that's fine with me.
Sigh..........I'm GOing to GO to bed now and dream about everything I can make with these circles. Happy Dreams for sure!

Let's GO again for the FREE GO Giveaway!
By Sewfunquilts
How would you like this free GO cutter by AccuQuilt delivered to your house by the Big Brown Truck??
Then you could GO and cut lots of quilt strips, squares, triangles like these!
Thanks to the great generosity of AccuQuilt, I am able to offer a GO cutter to some lucky winner of my special blog giveaway. I feel very honored to be able to do this. AccuQuilt and this machine has completely changed my entire life as a quilter, and I'm very thrilled to be able to give this opportunity to someone else in the quilting world. To enter GO back one post or click on the picture on my side bar at the right hand top of this page.
It is so exciting to see the number of people who have already entered and complied with the rules of the giveaway. GOod for you! AND..today, I feel there is a need to clarify the rules again. There have been several people who are NOT following the rules and completing all 5 requirements to earn an entry for the Free GO cutter.
Hey, my friends, this is not rocket science and you don't need a special degree in contests, or quilting, or reading to do this. It's sew simple; GO read, & FOLLOW THE RULES then leave your ONE comment.
If you think you have already entered, I suggest you GO back & read your comment to make sure you have met all the rules. In all fairness to those people who have followed and complied with the rules, it has become necessary for me to disqualify the names of the people who have not/do not follow the rules. I've tried to send personal emails to those people so they could GO back and edit/delete and do it correctly, but this has become way too time consuming for me to continue doing that. Hey...boys & girls, I want to do some cutting and quilting! Cutting with my GO cutter is fun!
5 easy things to answer in ONE comment .......and YOU could win a GO cutter! Wow!
1. follow my blog..and tell me.
2. follow me on twitter...and tell me.
3. become a friend of mine on facebook...and tell me.
4. GO to AccuQuilt's facebook and become a fan or "like", and tell them "sewfunquilts sent me"...then tell me.
5. GO to AccuQuilt's website, look at the GO. Tell me which two features you like about the GO.
Ok..that's it. Thanks everyone, GO have some fun today, GO read the rules, GO leave your ONE comment to get an entry to win a FREE GO cutter from AccuQuilt. Good luck.
(I wonder how many time I said the word GO??.....tee hee. See, GO cutter is fun!)
